Hi,

I'v been looking at Remote Startes/Alarm combos and have narrowed it down to 2 units

Python 881XP & Valet 554R both made by DEI.

I would like some opinios on both units, (both the same price installed)

Other than Remote Start/Alarm/Power Locks I would like to control, Power Trunk (tail gate), Rear Defoster & Sunroof close.

Extra nice things would be Heated Seats. (but not a decsion maker)

Instlation in a Ford Explorer 2004.

Thanks For your help.  BrainT, Ottawa.

Whichever remote you like the best, both units are identical.

The units are far from identical. The 881 has an output that can be programmed to act as a rear defrost trigger and/or for the heated seats. The 881XP has the newer, smaller style relay pack, the 881 has better range. I think the 881 has an extra aux. channel output.
If they are the same price...get the 881XP. Same shop for both units or are you comparing different places? If its different places also consider warranty, and quality of install. Make sure to pick up a spare remote for the 881XP if you go that route.

Thanks JWorm,

You are correct, the 881 has 3 aux outputs and the 554r only has 2. The prices where from the same shop.

The one thing I do not like about the 881 is having to purchase an extra remote.

there are monumental differences between these two units...go with the true Responder unit... the Python for quality and range...  the Valet for features and price ...i've owned both, i went from the Valet 554 to the Clifford 3.5 and prefer the Clifford....( Python is the same unti )
