I searched and couldn't find anything on this. If you look in the install manual at page14 at the H2 harness, and then in the back on page 57, the 2-5 wires have different orders for the colors. Which one is correct? All the wires serve the same function in both digrams, but the order is different, hence the pins would be different. Any input? (excuse the pun there! :-)) This is a relatively easy install it seems (I've done several alarm installs) but this just has me stuck scratchin my head.

The pin location in the book is wrong....just go by the colors.

Some idiot on a forum one time took out the wires and rearranged the harness. Then wanted to know the correct order so he could put it back the same way it came.

Awesome, thanks for the reply. I figure that the harness came right so I didn't mess with that. The more I see of viper manuals the more typos and mismatching information I see. They need like a review team or something. Anywho, thanks!!

I just noticed that when reading the manul this past weekend. And your right the entire manual is crap and missing stuff.

Yeah like that "Special Accessory Output" wire. What does it do if you program it on?

comes on and stays on during remote start.

Hello, I am trying to install a Viper 791xv in my 2001 sierra. I have never installed a remote start alarm before but it seems to me that DEI could have done a better job with their installation guide. Page 18 shows H1/3 WHITE/ Blue remote start activation input connected to one side of the valet/program button, and the other side of the button to ground. The quick reference guide in the back of the book shows the valet/program button plugs into the 2 pin plug on the brain. Do I need to tap the H1/3 WHITE/ Blue wire into one side of this valet/program button? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks

DEI writes there install guides for professional installers that know what they are doing.

For what you are doing, you don't need to do anything with the WHITE/ blue wire. It can be wired thru a momentary button (to ground) to start the car when you push the button. It can also be hooked to a timer module that will start your truck at pre-programmed times or to a GPS module that can do the same thing.

well said JWorm.... DEI's products are only supposed to be installed by their own network of professional installers... there is no warranty on any DEI product not installed by one of their dealers/installers....

therefore, these manuals are not written at the think & do level........ and any typos are dealt with on their website before the product usually ever hits the stores.... these products were never intended to be sold to or installed by DIYers
