Hello,

I am planning to install an add on remote starter in a 95 or 96 (can't remember) Impala SS.  It has the vats security system on it.  I was planning to use a relay and resistors.  I know to check the resistance of the key.  My question is in wiring the relay.  Ok, here's what I got:

85 - remote start output

86 - 12v

87a - switch side of vats wire

30 - starter side side of vats wire

87 - ?

I know i need to put the resistor on the 87 pin.  The only thing I was wondering is if it's resistance to ground or 12v?  How do I wire pin 87?

Also does anybody know what color the vats wire is in this vehicle.

Thanks.

  • 87 : Uncut wire from the two VATS wires with resistor pellet
  • 86 : Primary Ignition ( NOT CONSTANT )
  • 30 : Keyside of VATS wire
  • 87a: Computerside of VATS wire
