97 nissan altima remote start

I am having trouble with the remote start part of the install.  The car cranks for a long time before the car actually starts.  Sometimes it just cranks and doesn't start.  The alarm is the clifford rs 3.5.  Its a 97 nissan altima.  The alarm is getting proper voltage.  Another thing is that the alarm won't go into valet mode.  Can anyone explain to me how to fix this problem.

Sounds like the second starter wire isn't powered up. Use this diagram to power up second starter wire:
