Amp to speakers

I just bought new speakers and want to know the best way to hook them up.

• Pioneer GM-X564 480 Watt 4-Channel Amplifier
• 2 Pioneer TS-C160R 6.5" REV Component Speaker Package

I dont want to use my amp all of the time because some times it wont be nessasary.  I don't want to be using an amp on the speakers when I don't need.

How can I keep the cd player on the speakers and then use amp when I want?  Can I use a toggle switch on each speaker so power does no go though it from the cd  player?  Is it ok to have the cd player and the amp on each speaker?  My speakers can hold that much power so thats not a problem but will they be off sync.

Any thing would help.

You can not double amplify speakers especially with two different rated power sources. The higher of the two will try th smaller amplifier and would also cause damage to the speakers a possibly short out the electrical system as well.

OK Thanks.  I well just keep my amp on it.

One reason that I didin't want to keep using my amp and that was because I run alot of other things and some times I just don't need that extra power.
