I have some dumb questions. I have to replace an older Steal Shield alarm on a Ford Econoline. Will it be easier for me to install a new alarm from a different manufacture than if I was just installing a new system? I am trying to figure out if I can do it. I am not completely inept. I have wired a lot of my boat's 12 and 120 volt system, but I have little understanding with 12 volt vehicle systems. Is this something I can do in over a weekend? Also, will I be able to use the current module (if one exists)? What does the module do?
Thanks for all your help

It's pretty easy, just get the diagram (off this site) or ask for one, get your DMM out and go to town. As far as what you need, just state the year of your van... everything is pretty much power and ground....
