i own an aurora(95) . installing a presteige alarm/remote start. it has a connection for disarming the factory theft deterent. in the vehichel wiring database it says it is a green wire under the back seat. so far everything is fine. i just need to know exactly what it is that is being disabled and the effects and what those effects do to the presteige alarm.....mark

Depends on what the factory system did before. If you unlock with the new unit and the factory system see's no disarm to it your aftermarket will disarm and the factory will go off when you open the door. Kind of like when you test the system with the window down and unlock the car by reaching your hand in and then opening the door. FYI if you rs the car and the factory system is engaged it may shutdown the rs sequence immed or shortly thereafter.

I had a 95 olds with a the simple vats in the key.

GOOD LUCK

The OEM security system is a passive system that monitors the hood, trunk & doors when locked. If you do not disarm the wire while remote starting the alarm will trigger and the horn and lights will flash.
