7/98 f-150

I installed a R.S system on this vehicle and it works great. The problem is I can not get a universal bypass unit to work on this vehicle at all! I tried several. I then used a "no key required" unit from bypass kit.com. PKF1 for 1999 up vehicles. They dont list anything for a 1998 truck. That unit programs up fine but will not bypass the system. It does have the pats system because it will start fine with the key in the cylinder, but wont without it. Just wondering if anyone has run into this? If you have please let me know what you did to fix this problem. Thanks in advance.Brian

I would want to double check Ignition wires againThere weren't that many 98 P U's with TransponderDoes your Key have a removable peice on the very top to get to the Transponder?Also I'm sure U have the ByPass unit coming ON when it is cranking..??..When using the DEI unit, I have found that the Transponder has got to be positioned somewhat sideways on some of the older Ford P.U's....I also use the OMEGA DB-PKF (No Key) on some of the Late Model 98 Fords.MO

sounds like the bypass is not active on remote start. also they have to be positioned just right. try holding the bypass transmitter in front of the key cylinder similar to where the key would be if it was in the ignition. If that makes it work then you just need to reposition it closer to the antenna ring on the cylinder. good luckcar audio pays my bills...

Those year Ford PU's are very picky as to where the key is in the module and how it is positioned under the dash. I had a few where the system would work fine and after a few weeks of driving, the module or key would shift from the weather change and would move around causing the key to move out of the sweet spot of the module. Reposition the key in the module and use hot glue to secure it.Jeff

He is using a keyless bypass module. No antenna to install.. I have found on some fords there was an extra acc wire that needed to be powered for the pkf1 to program right.. ran into this on a 1999 superduty ford and a grand marquis.. the extra wire was RED / blk I think
