I have a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora with a Cobra Python remoter starter/alarm with a strange electrical problem. The dashboard lights and rear brake lights are not on when the headlights are on. The headlights are always on and I cannot turn them off. I can see the dashboard lights flashing on and off when I use the remote starter and the brake lights work when I push the brake pedal. Its not a fuse problem. I can hear a relay clicking on and off when the dashboard lights are flashing. When I put the car into gear the dashboard light turn off and the rear brake lights are not on.\

Before I was able to 'solve' the problem by disconnecting the battery to restart all the car systems. Another trick was to use the stock door opener and the cobra door opener together to cause the alarm to go off. That trick doesnt work either. Could it be that I have a bad relay someplace? Any advice or insights would be most welcome.

there is one way to tell if the alarm is the problem. try to find the brain and unplug it. if everything works fine you have a bad install or maybe the brain goes bad. if after you unplug the brain the problen still there, the car shuld be the problem Cobra Python starter/alarm on Olds Aurora -- posted image.

if everything was working before the install then unplug the alarm and check the dash light, and rear lights to see if they work fine. If they do then the install is the problem.If the problem still occurs then diconnect the battery to reset everthing and try again.if that doesn't solve nothing then you have a problem with the cars electrical or module.

Guys, thanks for the insights. I bought this car used about six months ago and don't have any of the documentation the cobra system came with. I'm not sure what the alarm modules under the hood look like either. I've tried to disconnect the hot terminal on the battery with the intention of resetting everything but that didnt work.
