Ok, this is kind of a wierd request but If I am going to do this myself I want it to work like I want it to. I have the determination and innitiative to learn anything I need to to get this thing in my car and working if there is a way. I don't have an alarm yet, I am still weighing pros and cons of each system/brand. I am looking for a 2-way and I have been looking at the Viper system. What I am wanting to do is have the system set up like this:  the remote unlocks/locks the doors/Arms and disarms alarm (I will need aftermarket power locks if anyone has suggestions on that), but the tricky part I am wanting to do is with the key-lock on the doors. I am wanting to put some kind of switch/relay/something like that inside the door behind the outside handle where when a key is turned it will activate that switch/relay to disarm the alarm with it. That way if someone is using a spare key or whatever they wont set off the alarm. The really tricky part is this: I don't want the alarm to disarm if someone sticks their hand in the window(which would set off the alarm anyway because of the proxemity(sp?) sensor, this is the reason for the switch inside the door at the back side of the lock. It seems do-able to me because on the back side of the key-lock there is an arm that moves the rod to lock/unlock the door. If anyone has any experience doing this please let me know how. Sorry about the length, and search kept leading me to dead-ends, especially because of the lack of 240sx information.  Thanks a lot to anyone who helps!

The tricky part about this is the fact that no after market alarms ( I've never seen or heard of one)have a disarm wire. They can only be disarmed by the remote. For what its worth, I think your most feasible solution would be to just add an extra remote. Because it will be easier, cheaper(by that I mean a remote would probably be cheaper that all the parts needed to accomplish your design) and added security. By added security, I'm talking about your lock disarming plan. If you actually would do that, you would be comprising your security. A theif could force your doorlock with a screwdriver to unlock your door and disarm your alarm at the same time. To me, thats not very secure. I'd be more confident knowing the only way to disarm my alarm is the remote in my pocket!

There are a couple alarms that will work with the whole key in door situation. But none of them come with a remote and they rely on a factory remote to control them(in other words the cars wiring arms and disarms them, no remote can be used directly to the alarm itself).

CutDog: I see your point there about compromising security, I wasn't even thinking about someone forcing the lock over..hmm..usually the first thing I would think about. Anyway, I think I am just going to go with the original set-up only disarming with remote. Now I need suggestions on a good system. I want something that has the 2-way thing but also has a small remote without the display, just like a genaric one, or a system where one of those can be added. Also, (another picky thing) I want one with seperate lock/unlock buttons. I have bad experiences with the 1-button set-ups and I am just going to stay away from that. Anyone have any suggestions that would be great.
