Hi,
I just purchased a 1993 Toyota SR5 4x4 ext, cab pickup truck.  The previous (original) owners took the truck back to the Toyota dealer to have the alarm disconnected because "it was too confusing for them and always going off".
I found the alarm box after removing the glove box.  I re-connected the large connector and an antenna cable to the alarm box and checked that it was getting power.  I also replaced the batteries in both remotes.  Since I do not have any manual or diagrams for this alarm I can't get the remotes reset to the alarm box.  (However, I have tried every combination I could find reading posts after a "reset alarm" search.)
I have searched the web and this site but have not been able to find any info about this alarm.  I sure would appreciate any and all help I could get.  Following are the details:
Alarm box label:
  Toyota Vehicle Security System
  Electronic Control Unit
  Toyota 00398-00921
  Product No. MW-8171
  FCC ID: BABMW-8171
Alarm box printed circuit board made by Fujitsu Ten Limited, marked MW-8171.
Remotes:
  Black plastic 2 1/4" by 1 3/16" by 7/16"
"Toyota" and Toyota logo molded into plastic
  Single button (white); no led
  FCC ID: BABEUC-1052
Also, on the dash to the left of the steering wheel is a red led and a "silent/center position/valet" switch.  The valet switch is spring loaded.
Thanks for any help you can give to me.

Correction to my Sept. 6, post:

The dash switch is actually labeled "HORN DEFEAT / VALET MODE"

I just need to know how to synchronize the alarm remote to the alarm "brain"

Thanks

I have found a good resource for Toyota dealer/factory installed alarms (made by Fujitsu Ten America).

Fijitsu Ten has an automated FaxBack document retrieval service for TVIP Installation Instructions, Owner's Guides, etc

1. Call 310-327-9905, follow the instructions, including your Fax number.

2. Order 8 page catalogue, which will be sent to your FAX.

3. Find the document number for the year and model for the info you need.

4. Call 310-327-9905 again and order that document number.

5. The best part is that this service is free, up to 4 Faxes a month (except for your call to area code 310).

The FaxBack system only has info for 1996 to 2005 alarms.   So I still need info on my 1993.

Can anyone out there help????

Here's the deal.  I should have titled this post as "1993 Toyota alarm /remote reset".

Because must peple with an alarm installed by the Toyota dealer/factory do not realize that the alarm was manfuractured by Fujitsu.  However, I still need to know how to reset the remotes to the alarm brain after changing the batteries in the remotes.

Thanks, I really could use your help.

Tom
