I have a 2003 manual tran. Cavalier - optionless - and installed the CT-3260 Prostart remote starter.

1) I am wondering if the 791 bypass module (for passlock II) from Bulldog will work with this starter. Has anyone tried? I am using the 791 because the CT store in my hood only had dipswitch bypasses and I didn't want to have to cross town to get a self learning module.

2) Also, I am sure that the clutch switch is a direct feed - can someone confirm? I have programmed the module and learned tach, also have set the unit in ready/idle mode and it keeps running but when I try remote starting after shutting down with remote, no flash codes but no start either so I assume that either the cluth bypass is wired incorrectly or the bypass module is not functioning (I have programmed the bypass module).

Thank you TONS in advance!!! I hate getting stuck at 90% done....

1. Page 8-10 in the installer's manual shows how to bypass the Passlock II system in the Cavalier & yes this will work ( according to Bulldog's site ).

2. To see if it's the clutch, sit in the vehicle after you have set it to start and press the clutch in when remote started. If the vehicle starts, then you did not bypass the clutch properly. You may have botht he bypass and the clutch wrong, but test to see which one it is. If the vehicle cranks when you press the clutch in manually but doesn't stay running, then you also have a Passlock II bypas issue.

Thanks for the help. In ready mode it doesn't start when I press the clutch and remote it. I just re-trained the bypass module but when I press the start button (button 2) it doesn't even ack the signal. I know this button works because I used it to program options. The system hasn't signalled that it is out of ready mode, any idea why the start signal doesn't get ack?

You may need to program the tach.

Sorry to seem like such a moron, but I installed a bulldog in my wife's car in 2 hours and this one has taken 2 days....

I have programmed the tach. Reset and reprogrammed the starter, reset and reprogramed the passlock bypass. With no cranck only thing left to suspect is the clutch swith or the tach wire. I attached the tach wire to the white in the pic below which I got from prostart:

Is this the right wire for a 2003 cavalier 2.2? If not then I will check the solenoid side of the clutch switch for voltage when I hit the button.

Thanks again for your help guys. It is much appreciated!

Ok after testing...found out that  the car goes out of ready mode by itself after about 30 sec. I tried pressing the button immediately after shutdown but before it went out of ready mode and everything lit up properly but no crank - When I probe the solenoid side of the clutch wire after pressing the start button I get no 12v reading.

I can start the car with the key without pressing the clutch in now. This means that the clutch is not bypassed properly right? The switch tests as a direct feed + according to the steps in the manual. The manual states to connect the crank from the module to the solenoid side wire to bypass but this seems to have permanently bypassed it as I can start it with the key. Should the module be giving power to the crank wire when it is not in standby?
