Hello all. I recently purchased an 02 Honda Accord EX and installed a Viper 791xv in the vehicle. Everything works fine except that the remote start cranks, works fine for 15 seconds, then shuts off and the key light on the dashboard blinks repeatedly. I have installed a 556u factory bypass module and I know this works because the car cranks up. I think it has something to do with the factory alarm system. I dont have the disarm defeat or disarm no unlock wires hooked up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If the car is cranking over and not staying running, it's an immobilizer problem. Chances are the key inside the 556U is not positioned properly or you do not have enough loops around the ignition barrel to induce the signal to the Immobilizer. It won't be your OEM security because it's a passive alarm system that detects intrusion at the door, trunk or hood, has nothing to do with the disarm no unlock or disarm defeat wires.

Try repositioning the key on the module until the car starts. It's your best bet and if this doesn't work well for you, I suggest a module that learns the code of the key instead of the universal type systems. It's better in colder climates where the cold will expand and contract the loop where the key is held.

I agree with VM. There is def. a immobilizer issuse. If you don't have luck with this module, try using the 555H instead. I haven't had a problem with those. Goodluck.

unplug the 556U and test it with the key in the ign but not turned... does it start and run fine?   then it's an immobilizer issue.....

I tried unplugging the 556u and put the key in the ignition...same problem. That means it is another issue outside the immobilizer right? The car should not even start if the immobilizer does not work. Any other suggestions?

when you remote start:
the car cranks, all the dash lights (including the green key light) go out like normal, the car runs fine for 15-20 seconds, then it shuts off
very strange...

check for over-rev/under-rev shutdown.....    when you run shutdown diagnostics, what does it say caused the shutdown?    have you tried switching from tach sensing to voltage sensing?

I tried unplugging the immobilizer unit and the car would not even start. One other thing to note is that the vehicle will not even attempt to remote start when the alarm is armed. I have not tried switching to voltage sensing, but i really think it is a problem with the factory alarm...any ideas?

i would address one problem at a time instead of a shotgun approach.... get it running properly first, then deal with bypassing the factory alarm.... if it runs for 15 seconds i dont suspect a transponder issue... do as i suggested above and confirm the shutdown source or reprogram it for voltage sense.... i just did an Acura a few weeks ago with a similar problem... the car would start fine, but then after about 10-15 seconds the RPM's ramped from 800 to about 1600, shutting the unit down as an over-rev protection... changing it to voltage sense cured this problem.... once you get it running deal with disarming the OEM alarm....
