Hey everyone,

I am about to start my installation for my remote starter in a 1998 Jetta. I got the wiring diagrams from the company that made my alarm. It is a ProStart Remote Start with Keyless entry I think the module model number is the CT-3300. The wiring diagrams say that I need to use relays when wiring for the parking lights, door unlock/lock and the trunk release. Just would like to know what other tips anyone can give me when wiring it. Any tips or experiances that will make this an easier install. I want this to be a clean and good install so I am trying to get as much info as possible.

Thanks for all the help in advance

Jason

Probably the biggest problem your going to have with the installation is the programming of the system. I hate those Canadian Tire special remote starter's. They are such a peice of junk it'snot even funny.
Aside from this you should be able to find information on this site if you do a search for VW JETTA with the search button.

Are they really that bad. I got it as a Christmas Present last year do you advise not installing it or is it going to do the job once installed??

Thanks

Last time I looked, the CT-3300 is the same as an Autostart 1525 or so. Not too bad of a unit.
Positive pulse locks, and you will need to "open" the ignition wire to the factory alarm module with a relay while it is running. Other than that, pretty easy starter, especially for a VW.

Using a relay.... cut the ignition wire going to the factory alarm module (beside the cruise module, behind lightswitch). Pin 30 to car side, 87A to module, 86 to car side of ignition, 85 to ground when running.
