I'm installing an alarm that uses the negative door trigger to activate it. It's a Bulldog Deluxe 62. I am concerned about it being set off inadvertently without actually opening the door. The 1996 GMC S-15 Jimmy that I'm installing it into activates the interior dome lights whenever any of the door handles are lifted. Is there a way to activate the alarm on this vehicle only when the door is physically opened and not when the interior lights come on?

mecp certification is not always needed. I have it and it has not helped me out at all. my experience out shines it.

well, most door pins are connected to the dome light circuit.  It doesn't matter if its negative or positive trigger.  Some GM vehicles when you lifted the door handle and it activates the dome light then it will trigger the alarm system.  On the other hand, if you want to isolate the door pins and dome lights than you will have to install your own door pins or isolate both door pins with a couple relays, isn't it?

Good luck.

the truck shouldn't have any actual pins in it... you can get some factory GM door pins from either a dealer of from somewhere like accel electronics or American Terminal and put those in an wire them to the alarm instead of the dome light.. then will only go off with the door is opened like yuou want.. if I remember correctly, there is still a place in the door jamb that is for a pin placement.. you just have to drill the hole..
