Design-Tech 23927 w/Commando DLR

I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and I am considering installing either a Design-Tech Ready Remote 23927 or a Commando RS-560.  The problem is the door locks.  I need the seperate module to control my reverse polarity door locks.  Everything I've read says to use the DEI 455t to control the locks.  My question is this:  Can I use the Commando DLR (Door Lock Relay Module) which only costs $7 with the Design-Tech remote starter, or is it proprietary and will only work with the Commando remote starter?  Has anyone tried putting the two items together before and got it to work?  The DEI 455t is way more expensive than the Commando DLR, yet they do the same thing supposedly.  Any help would be appreciated.

The door locks on '96-'98 Grand Cherokees are controlled as follows: The driver's and front passenger's doors each have a control module inside the doorlock/window switch. The driver's door module operates the driver's door lock motor, and the passenger door module operates all the rest. The two door modules communicate with each other and with the body control module via the car's databus, so in order to control the locks you have to either send signals on the databus(which is what the 455T does), or interface with the lock wires inside each front door. I'd suggest using a 455T or equivalent databus module, because it's much easier to install, and will control the factory alarm, dome light supervision, and several other things in addition to the locks. However you can control the doorlocks with two door lock relays such as the DLR you mentioned. To control the locks with relays, you'll do reverse polarity wiring in each front door. Driver's door wires are ORANGE / purple for lock, and pink/black for unlock. Passenger door wires are BLACK/ white for lock, and pink/black for unlock.C Renner's Auto Electronix

So the Commando DLR module doesn't plug into the databus like the DEI 455t?  For some reason I thought that it did.  I don't really feel like taking both doors apart, so I may just try to find a cheap 455t.  Thanks for the help.  Oh, btw, the455t should work with both the RS-560 and the 23927, right?

The DLR is only a door lock relay module - DEI's equivalent part is the 451M. It works fine except on vehicles like '96-up Grand Cherokees, or late model GM SUVs/pickups, which have no lock/unlock wires besides the databus. The 455T is universal - it just needs negative disarm, unlock, and lock inputs from the alarm/rs you're installing.
