I have this device installed in my used car and it's going bad. I can't seem to find any information about it. Does anyone know anything about it? Does it use a relay or is the key the actual relay. When the car doesn't start, the key does get warm. I have to play around/giggle the key to start the car if it starts. It seems to have a mind of it's own now. Any info on this thing would be a great help...thank you ...max

The DEI Failsafe, or 102T, is a starter kill that works from a secret switch. You should have to turn your key on, hit your secret switch, then start the car to make it work. All it is is a set of relays, one for the switch and one for the starer kill. They are pretty bullet proof, have no circuitry. The only part that may ever fail is a relay itself. It sounds like you have a bad ignition switch....

102t is probably not the right model..
what I have is some kind of electronic looking key that I slide into a slot to start the car and take out to disable the starter. There's no hidden switch or brain that I know of. I just don't want to pull the thing apart without know a little about it first.
thanks

The one you have is just a simple thing, all ya gotta do is find where they cut the starter wire and patch it back together to bypass...
