2000 Grand am Se Passlock Help ?

i have a 2000 grand am se

im trying to bypass the passlock system on it ....

however im finding to many different

ways with relays

i have done one with 2 relays but it is not doing anything .

can someone point me to the correct way for this model and year car.

please !

Get a bypass module like the DEI 555L. Much more reliable than using relays.

have already spent more money on the alarm than i wanted

dont want to spend another doller .

i have the relays , i just need to know the proper way for a gram am 2000

passlock is very simple.  find the ORANGE / black and yellow wires coming off of the key cylinder (thin wires) strip back the orange black wire, start the car, cut the yellow wire, the factory security light will now come on, take a voltmeter set it to ohms setting place the black lead of the meter on the stripped back ORANGE / black wire, and place the red lead of the meter on the KEY SIDE of the cut yellow wire, this will tell you what value resistor you need. find the correct value resistor and place it between the the ORANGE / black and the CAR SIDE of the cut yellow wire, (NOT THE KEY SIDE!) try starting the car with the key to make sure it starts and runs and that the security light shuts off, and now your done. Make sure to solder the resistor in place. this method permantly bypasses the passlock, so if you want you could use a relay to leave the factory passlock active. I know most people will tell you to use a module, but ive done tons of gm's with this method and have never had a problem. just my 2cents.

Passlock II on GM Automobiles

Since 1998, GM has been using PASSLOCK II. In many ways it is like the PASSLOCK I system found on the 96-97

Cavalier and Sunfire, but with a few small changes. There is no bulb test wire on the ignition switch and the measurement

for your resistor must be taken with the engine running.

1. Start the car with the key

2. Locate the 3 small wires (Black, White and Yellow) coming from the ignition switch, they are usually stuck together.

3. Separate the wires and cut the YELLOW wire in half.

4. Splice opens the BLACK wire but do not cut it.

5. Using a digital ohmmeter, attach 1 lead to the Black wire and the other lead to the Key side of the cut YELLOW wire.

6. Read the resistance between the 2 leads and then reverse your leads and take the reading again.

7. Take the average of your 2 readings and find a resistor to match it.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a fuel cutoff system. If the PASSLOCK II system is not properly bypassed the engine will

immediately shut down after remote start. If this occurs verify that all the wiring is properly connected and that your

resistor is within the allowable parameters.

i have done the passlock bypass

and when the car starts the security light does not come on.

i can start with the key with the resistor in place with no problem .

i can also remote start if i turn the ignition key to on.

then it runs fine .

im not sure but it seem like it testing for something else also .

are there something else i need to do .

does this car have a bulb test wire ....?

sounds like your missing the second ignition wire, which is dark green . make sure the dark green is getting power from the remote starter and your problem should be solved. this car does not have a bulb test wire.

this car does not have a dark green wire eather !

it has 2 pink wire

i tested both with a meter and they are getting voltage only with the switch

in the run position .

so i wired them up ign1 , ign2

this is a 2000 model grand am Se

are you going directly to the plug on the back of the ignition key cylinder????  ive done alot of grand ams, and i dont recall ever seeing two pink wires at the back of the cylinder. i just did one about a week ago, and it had a dark green as second ign.
