I'm looking to install a starter with keyless entry into 2 vehicles and the customer would like the 1/2 car switchable remotes to control both vehicles. I've found an UltraStart model 1500 and a Crimestopper  RS900 Series IV that seem to both fit the bill pretty well. They are both also the same price at Auto toys.com, around 75 dollars each. Can anyone tell me thier thoughts on which would be a better model to install. I believe the UltraStart's are made in Canada from what I've been seeing online.

Is remote starting done with a single button press on those or do you have to hold down the button for several seconds? Also how is the range. I read that the UltraStart has 1500 feet but was unable to determine the Crimestopper range. Any tips or tricks you learned while installing them that would make my life a little easier? Thanks again.

The remote starting is done with one push of the button.  So far it has started any distance I have tried it from.  I think the manual says 1000 feet, but there is alot of things that go into the equation.  Things like terrain, weather, buildings,ect... The remote also seems to be rock solid.(not easyly hurt)  What type of vehicle are you installing it on?  Brian

I've worked with the Ultrastarter product frequently. Probably put in about 75 this winter. We use the 1250 model. They work really good, are easy to install and have excellent reliability. They also don't cost too much. You can set it for one push start or have it so you have to hit the start button twice about 1 second apart. We used to set it for 2 pushes, but too many customers were too stupid to get it right so now we set it for 1 push.

Thanks to both of you for the info. Brian I am installing the units for a couple that want to be able to use the 2 car control feature. The first is a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero and the second vehicle is a 1999 Ford Explorer. I agree with you Jworm on the 1 push setup. I did an Autopage RS install and the customer was not happy about having to hold the button for 3 seconds. LOL

I belive you will be pleased with the Crimestopper.  It sure makes it nice to carry one remote to operate both vehicles.  Be sure to post your results and let us know how it turned out.  Best of luck.  Brian

I've been installing the Crimestopper units and have had no problems with them.  The customers really like the controls and the option of adding another remote starter to their other car without having to add a second transmitter.
