Looking to install this remote start system in my car and all the local shops tell me it cant be done using the factory remote.  What is the truth? I understand the Immobilizer bypass part and the fact that you would need to press the lock/unlock button 2 or 3 times to start.

What I am unsure about is if I were to do it myself, where exactly I would have to use additional relays and/or diodes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.2001 GTI with Valet 561T -- posted image.

if I am not mistaken remote start/alarms on these volkswagons are a B***h

if you want to avoid the domelight delay you have to go to each seperate door trigger which are located in each door and you have to diode isolate

door locks again are inside the driver door

I am not sure what you mean when you say  "if you want to avoid the domelight delay you have to go to each seperate door trigger which are located in each door".  Anything else I should know?

The only thing to remember, the factory keyless doesen't work when the car is running.
Other than that, shouldn't be too bad. You need your valet key for the transponder bypass (there is an RFID chip inside), and a DEI 556U works nicely on these cars. You should be able to get your start pulse off of the driver's door computer that is attateched to the window motor, use an unlock wire. Park lights are at the switch, brake is at the brake switch.
Other than that, not too bad of a car to do.... aside from the whopping 40 feet of range the factory remote has.
