Ok, ive read all the previous posts on this vehicle. heres my questions
1. every one says to grab lock wires in drivers door. does anyone know about this info i found on the audiovox website? "       YELLOW / RED AT SWITCH IN CENTER CONSOLE (-) PULSE LOCKS AND UNLOCKS EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING."?
2. dei and audiovox both say to grab door trigger in drivers and passanger door moudles, however i did read one post saying you can just grab it at the domelight? is this true?
3. when interfacing with the bmw transponder system why does everyone say to use the factory bmw antenna ring? what is any different between that and the dei 556u?

i would stick with DEI wiring diagram....they r almost 99% right.....u will need to wire into the drivers door for lock and unlock .....and wire into the LF and RF door for door triggers.....going to the domelight could cause false alarm triggering.

http://www.directechs.com/techtips/pdfs/resources/security/directed_techtips/1056.pdf

this would be smarter .....it is using the factory transponder ring.....that means no problems......the 556u ring prolly doesnt work in that car.

Where theres is a wire there's a way.

does anyone know if i can just add a remote start without having to disarm the factory security on this vehicle? or will it trip the fac. sec. when it attempts to start?

hi,

1.  i'd use the wiring in the door (key cylinder switch) for lock/unlock. the button in the console toggles between lock and unlock. if your system gives a lock pulse with each press of the lock button on transmitter, you may end up with the vehicles doors unlocked.

2.  you can use the domelight lead.  however, when the vehicle is turned off, the domelight will turn on, setting the alarm off.  use a pulse timer to disconnect the door trigger input to the alarm.

3. i've used both the factory ring and a 556U.  use the instructions for european vehicles (alternate method 2?)  wiring the unit in series with the factory ring.

4. the factory alarm will disarm with the key when started, usually gives a chirp of the siren when doing so.

5. the factory remote doesn't work when the vehicle is running, but there are ways to bypass that problem.

hope this helps

well it looks like the customer just wants to add a remote start and then keep his factory keyfob to control the doorlocks/etc. So how do you keep the factory remotes working when the vehicle is running?

thanks for your help by the way !

hi,

to have the factory remote operate while running, you need to find the ignition lead at the BCM behind the glove box...violet/white if i recall.  problem is that if you isolate this lead, the vehicle doesn't start.  so you'll need a pulse timer and relays to connect and then disconnect this lead.  then you'll have a problem with the transponder/key ring.  BMW uses the ring also for key sensing.  the vehicle won't let you lock the doors with a key in the ignition...see pulse timer above.

so you have a 528T triggered by the status output (adjust for approximately 6-10 seconds). have timer give ground output on normally open contacts.  diode isolate to transponder bypass and a relay.  normally open and common contacts of this relay connect the ignition lead of BCM. an additional relay, triggered by status output, isolates this lead (normally closed and common contacts)

hope this helps
