Python 880XP & 508D Proximity Sensor

Hello, last weekend i installed the security and prox. I didnt hookup the shock sensor just hooked up the prox sensor. I played around with the adj. sensors a little bit but it just doesnt seem to be very sensative at all. I have a 92 honda prelude. i have 20% mirror tint on all the windows accept the windshield. The sensor is in the middle of hte car under the cup holder between the front seats. I can walk up toe the car and hit it and wave my hands all around it and it wont even warn. when i walk to the front i wave my hands in teh windshield and it will warn. and also by teh front fenders it will work. Is there a certain location the sensor has to be in like mounted on hte frame or something? What is your opinions? If i roll my windows down it works awesome, you cant even come within 2-3 feet of hte car. Does the sensor not work good because of my window tint? PLEASE HELP i paid good money for this system and i want to get its fullest potental. Can i hookup the shock sensor too? so it uses both prox and shock? Also, what do i hookup the orange wire with the few stranded wires attached to it on the primary harness???? and what wires are requitred to be connected besides teh ign. access and starter  and 12++ wires for the remote starter to work. does teh tach wire have to be install? it doesnt seem to want to even attempt to start. I havent hooked up the disarm relays such as brake or hood pin. what is required for it to start? please help anyone!!!thanks -Caseycasey

Make sure that the sensor is positioned properly. Some sensors have to be positioned so that the module is length wise to the car while others are widthwise to the car.... do you know what I mean ??Jeff

Yes you can hook up both shock and proximity sensors.  What you would do is cut the blue and green wires on the four pin plug for the either the shock or the radar.  Join the blue and green from the radar and hook it up to the blue wire from the four pin plug on the alarm side.  Then cut the blue and green of the shock and join them to the green wire of the 4 pin plug on the alarm side.  This system is multiplexed and works off of a timed pulse so you would retain warn away.  What ever plug you are using plug it in to the sensor.  Then take the other one and wire the red to power and the black to ground.  The tint can dramatically affect the range of a prox sensor.  As far as what shutdown sensors for the remote start you should use a hood pin for safey and you need to use the brake to shut the alarm down when you get in and drive away.  If it is a newer alarm then you can either use the tach input or go into programming and set it to voltage sensing.  I would personally use the tach it is more reliable.  The orange wire on the main harness should be a ground when armed this is used most commonly for starter kill.  If the unit has the relay built in then just cut it and cover it so it doesn't short out.Certified Security Specialist
