Hey all - I'm trying to install an Audiovox APS997 and am having some problems, hoping you could all help.  First, the remote start will only work after the alarm has been disarmed.  Is this just a programming issue or is something wired wrong?  Second, the shifter is stuck in park unless I unlock it using the unlock button.  After it's unlocked, it will shift into drive but then will only go back to neutral and has to be unlocked to shift back into park.  Any help would be great.....

For the no start issue.....did you "energize" the key sence wire BLACK/ red POS(+) pin 24 bcm? power this up with a ground while running, and a relay.

The shifter: does it work correctly when the truck is NOT remote started?

You don't need keysense; at least I've never used it. Also, the new APS-997 has an extra onboard relay to do stuff like that, which is cool.
What happens when you try to remote start it while armed? Please be specific. Parking light flash but no ignition? Ignition comes on but doesn't crank? Cranks but doesn't start? Red security light on or off?
Most likely, you have the remote starter's starter output, on the wrong side of the starter-kill relay.....so that the kill relay prevents cranking while armed.........move the starter output to the "body" side of the kill relay, not the "keyswitch" side.
As far as the shifter, that's really bizarre. Like Kar Tune Man asks, does it work correctly when just driving the car with the key? And do the brake lights work all the time? After all, you need the brake to enable the shifter.

When it's armed it will try to start but doesn't.  It will try three times and then the transmitter will say "inhibit".  Then once the alarm is disarmed, it will remote start just fine.  I tried to switch the starter output wires as per Audiovox tech and still no luck.  Does it matter if the valet key was used for the transponder?  I'll double check the position of the wires just to be sure.  As for the shifter - it does not work correctly while driving with the key.  I have to used the unlock button.  In the manual it says that it will not work if the battery has just been charged  - makes sense since the battery did die.  But even after letting the truck run for a while and moving it around it still does the same thing.  Could  the factory anti-theft be kicking in and that's why I'm having problems?

Ok I got it..  I had a wire switched which was why it would only remote start when disarmed and a fuse was blown which was why it wouldn't shift.  Thanks for all the help and info.......
