i installed the 791xv viper remote start on my '05 tahoe with the 457gw interface module. everything works fine except 2 things. one i can live with, which is, when the alarm is armed and i open any door, it has a 10 second delay before the alarm recognizes the doors open. but it still goes off. the main problem is weird, because the truck starts with the remote start and i can drive it anywhere. but just starting it with the key, it dies after a second. its weird because the only way i can drive it is by remote start. please help me someone, if not i will disconnect everything.

thought i would give this a shot since no one has responed  i installed alarms years ago so im not that up on the new factory systems so take my advise with a grain of salt. so here it goes  im thinking that when you start it with the key the truck is reading the key and dei bypass at the same time versus only dei bypass when you remote start the truck. please insure that the dei bypass is only active during remote start . digging in the back of my head and dei has not changed colors in 10 years plus  should be a low current 200mA blue "gnd when started" should be used to enable the dei bypass only on remote start

delay is normal. When starting with key is there a security light flashing?  I do not use those interfaces so I do not know if it is data line linked or if you have to tap or cut into factory security wires.  But check them again and make sure you have the ground while running wire hooked up to trigger the interface only.

Somewhere there is current getting to the 457, when its not supposed to. How did you trigger the 457? With the "status output" It sounds to me like the 457 is staying ON. The vehicle can only recognize one key, or start signal at a time. Disconnect power from the 457 and see if the rig will start? Then make sure its being turned on with the correct output from the viper.
