alarm triggers when remote starter activated

     I installed a Bulldog remote starter (model rs-102) on my daughter's 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix.  The car had an existing GM Goodwrench alarm system installed, which I believe at that time was made by Code Alarm. The remote starter system works fine, however, if the Goodwrench alarm system is armed, the alarm system triggers the very instant that the start button is pressed on the Bulldog remote. The remote starter will still start the engine and the car continues to run while the siren is sounding.  I tried sitting inside the car when activating the remote starter to see if it might be turning on the interior lights which might trigger the alarm, but no interior lights came on.  I also tried disconnecting the pink 12volt switched wire from the alarm system thinking that the ignition on signal might be triggering the alarm, but that also made no difference.  I did notice that when I was sitting in the car with the alarm system armed and I manually turned on the parking lights with the switch on the dash, the siren would chirp.  If I turned the park lights on and off 2 or 3 times to simulate what the remote starter system does when activated, then the alarm would trigger.  Maybe the Goodwrench alarm has a current sensing circuit. There is a shock sensor connected to the alarm system but I don't think that's what is setting off the alarm.  So basically, I have to disarm the alarm system in order to use the remote starter.  Any suggestions on how I can work around this problem?   Oh, I just remembered that I have another problem with this set up.  When I use the remote starter with the alarm disabled, the power locks will lock the doors,which is fine, however when the remote starter turns off after the 15 minutes, the power locks unlock the doors..... not a good thing when the alarm system is disabled.  I did not connect the RKE feature to the remote starter system since it was already part of the alarm system, if that makes any difference.  Anyway I open to suggestions, your help will be greatly appreciated.          Thanks,  qcjim

There has to be a alarm disarm wire on the Goodwrench alarm system to be able to bypass it during remote start. Find the model number of this alarm and see if other member's can find you a wiring diagram for it. Otherwise go back to GM and ask for a wiring schematic of this and find a alarm disarm wire for it and attach the OEM ALARM DISARM wire from the Bulldog system to this wire.Jeff

As far as the doors locking upon remote start and unlocking upon timeout, it sounds like you have ignition controlled locks through the GM alarm.  Do your door lock and unlock when you turn the ignition on and off with the key?.  You may have to get rid of the ignition controlled locks or have your bulldog lock them after the unit shuts off.J Rilla
