1998 Cavalier help

I am installing a remote starter on 1998 Cavalier. Everything works fine except bypass module for PassLock 1 ....I am using a Bulldog #781 and not sure about the resistance reading I am getting. Have Ohm meter set on 20k and testing the wires I am getting a reading of 1016. Wires will not test when ohm meter is set on 2000 so this tells me resistance is above 2000....So could someone tell me what the resistance actually is with meter set on 20k and getting a reading of 1016. Any help would be appreciated.

I have never had a bypass module work on a Cavalier with the Passlock I. I always use a relay and a trimpot now. save yourself the headache and make a run to radioshack. You will need a DMM, a relay, and a trimpot. I am not sure what type of bypass module that is, but it looks like you had to measure the resistence between the key side of the yellow passlock wire and the black passlock ground wire, so I dont need to go over that part, so you need to wire up a relay like this: Note: THIS IS A PERMANENT BYPASS. If you want to maintain the integrity of the passlock anti-theft system do not follow these instructions: I am only suggesting them becasue every Cavalier I have tried a bypass module on has not worked consistently. here it goes if you are interested though: Pin 85 to ground, Pin 86 to your starter wire, Pin 30 to the passlock ground wire, Pin 87a to one side of the trimpot, and the other side of the trimpot to the motor side of the yellow passlock wire, and Pin 87 to the bulb test wire. This should be a very easy install since you have already tapped all of these wires with the bypass module. If you are interested in a relay diagram that only temporarily bypasses the passlock I system let me know and I can try and find a copy that I can post since it is too complicated to describe.J Rilla
