When we purchased our '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee in 1998 the dealer had installed one of those lame pin alarms with a LED/under the dash that required a pin or something to start the vehicle (so it couldnt be stolen off the dealer lot most likely) We dont have the pin thats needed for it and it does work without it.

Anyways it's caused some issues sometimes starting over the last 4 years and I'd like to remove it. It's tied into the door locks/ starter so you have to hit UNLOCK before the car will start. We also use the factory key fob to lock/unlock the doors.

How much work am I looking at to remove this as the hack job they did will someday leave me stranded with a no start issue. I would imagine just putting back all the wires(color to color) but Im sure that there is more to it.?

Its basically a brain box, a led light in the pin box with a flat ribbon cable going to it and then wired to ignition wiring and door wiring.  I see no company name on the box just has a ground, two wires and then a flat ribbon wire coming from the box.

The SECURITY light also flashes after I close/lock door so Im assuming they tied it into the stcok OEM alarm thats in the Jeep?

I've done alarm installs before so I cant see it being that hard, but never anything like this.
Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks,
Doug

It should be a simple procedure to remove this POS. I have included a diagram for this vehicle and make sure that if there are any cut wires that are split to run through a relay for starter kill, you re-attach the wires. I'm not sure if they used an ignition kill or a starter kill, but check to make sure that the igntion wires are soldered back together where they were cut in half for this system.
