Ok most will laugh at this but o'well, the new dodge trucks that have the remotes built into the key or the key built into the remote, whether or not it has a sentry key? I am just wondering how  I can try to find out through customers when they call for quotes....thanx

Most remote start companies provide charts free of charge or web site access to databases. Check with your provider.

You can also use online services like Howard Keys. Here's a Dodge sampling http://www.howardkeys.com/pdf/AutomotiveKeys/Chrysler.pdf

you be beter off looking at it itself, most customers dont have a clue. form what i understand that ALL dodge jeep chrysler that has the remote built in HAS the sentry key. i was told this when i work form the dealer ship in 04.
not sure if they cahnge it or not in 06-07 if there a red dot light on the dash when u turn the key on then yes it has one. or jsut have them take the back off the remote and just put the key in the chip in on the board with teh battery.

Those website charts are most often wrong.....useless information because it's so rarely accurate.
If the red light in the dash comes on when you turn on the ignition, it has Sentry Key.
The Dakota/Raider, as well as some stripped Durangos, have the remote built into the key, but no transponder.
Also, there's no reason to be taking one of those expensive keys away from the customer.......start selling aftermarket key blanks to use for the remote start, and make more money.

I have been telling customers that they have to bring it in for verification the only problem I have run into: I get more than normal customers from 100 to 150 miles away. I just started stocking key blanks last week, I am not sure what dealerships charge in you guys areas but in mine they are banging customers 100 to 140 for a 3rd key!!!!!

555C for 04 & older Sentry keys, 556C for most 04 & newer... 2 SKU's to stock and they learn just like learning a new key....

simple & easy.....

The original post was asking for an easy way he can diagnose over the phone whether or not customers have transponder keys.

Customers are not engineers and most have no idea of technology or what lights to look for in the dash and on top of it all you gotta know all light locations for all models for all years including the ones you haven't seen yet.

Here's a guaranteed foolproof method that even your grandmother can do.

Ask the cutomer to wrap the head of the key in about four layers of aluminum foil being sure it touches the key shaft then ask them to try to start their car. Fail to start = transponder.

The old KISS phylosophy!
