I'm putting the Commando Car Alarm brand RS-COMBO remote start, keyless, and alarm in my 86 Cherokee, and I want to know where I'm supposed to connect the orange anti-grind/disable wire. Everything else is connected, but I think that this is the one wire that is causing my alarm to malfunction on me. I have absolutely no control over it with my remotes: They don't arm/disarm, remote start, etc... The valet/program switch seems to have absolutely no effect on programming in anything. In order to program the remotes, I turn the key on/off on/off on, then press the valet button until the alarm chirps and then I'm supposed to press the lock button on the remotes, but even when I do the ignition thing the LED is supposed to blink once with a "chirp".

Another thing: theres a yellow and brown ignition lead coming from the brain which I connected in parallel onto the single yellow switched ignition lead running up the steering column to the ignition switch, which is described on my wiring diagram as the switched 12V+ ignition wire, is this correct? Can I put them both on this?

Somebody, anybody, I'm really stuck on this.  Cam any of you intellectually superior individuals help me on these?

You do not need to use the brown wire since you do not have a second Ignition on that vehicle.  The heavy gauge yellow wire from the RS goes to the yellow wire on the Jeep.  The Orange wire goes to the Brown wire on the Jeep, possible an orange wire though, test them to see which one shows power only in acc and run position.  The orange wire on the RS is to trigger an optional starter kill relay.   If you are not using a starter kill relay then the heavy gauge purple wire goes directly to the Dk green wire on the Jeep, and if you are or want to use one then you cut the dk green wire and install a relay between the two ends, using the orange wire on the RS as your trigger.  All the orange wire is, is a ground output when the RS is armed.

Your transmitters should come already programmed so there should be no need to program them.  If you have to though, you sound like you are doing it right.  This makes me think that there is an error in the install, or perhaps your antenna is bad.  To make sure that the RS is installed right and the unit works, you can probe the external trigger wire on the RS with a groung pulse and the unit should attempt to start the car.  Sorry the color of this wire eludes me right now, but the manual should say.  If it does not attempt to start , then you may have installed something incorrectly.  Check your fuses and report back to me Commando RS-COMBO on 86 Cherokee -- posted image..  If it does start then you may have a bad antenna.

Here are your basics that are necessary for the Remote start to work, so sorry if they seem obvious:  All three Red wires (2 heavy, 1 thin) must be connected to a 12v+ constant wire in your ignition harness which should be heavy gauge Red on the Jeep.  Yellow and Orange wires I mentioned above, no need for the brown wire.  Black wire must be grounded to a good chasis ground! use an existing screw if possible. Antenna must be plugged in.  Program switch and LED must also be plugged in.  Siren must be installed for you to be able to hear when you enter programming mode, so Red goes to the Brown wire form the RS(if i remember correctly) and the black needs to go to ground.   White parking light wire helps for an additional confirmation source, but not necessary.  Tach is not absolutely necessary to make sure that the unit works, but is highly recommended for reliability purposes.

Keep me posted, you are very close to getting this.
