I installed an Autopage RS750LCD and everything works great...except...I read somewhere not to use the domelight connection at the dimmer because it may damage the dimmer.  Instead, I used a relay on the door pin wire to activate the interior lights.

With all doors closed, I get a "door ajar" light on my dash, when the interior lights are activated by the 750.  I think this may be interfering with the automatic doorlock and automatic rearm.

When a door is opened, all interior light activate; however, when the dimmer is rolled up to maximum and clicked to the second position, all the interior lights activate except the for the front map lights.  This is the circuit I'd like to tap into.  Does anyone have an insight?

thanks!

Does anyone know if the dimmer warming is true?

thanks!

What is the polarity polarity of this wire? Can I assume negative?

thanks!

Jeff,

From this site I got :

Door TriggerBROWN / White (-) Lower right Gray Connector at Fuse Panel

i used this for the negative alarm trigger, is this the same BROWN / white that you are talking about or is just coincidental that they are the same color?  Do I need to diode isolate this if i use it? What about desh187's BROWN / lt green suggestion?

thanks!

Thanks for the info - I managed to get an interior lighting schematic for a '96 caravan, and I was able to identify the two wires you are talking about..  The BROWN / white and BROWN / lt green are  wires that go to each side of the interior lamps-on-switch in the headlamp switch assembly.  The BROWN / white goes to the negative side of the the courtesy lamp relay in the BCM and the BROWN / lt green goes to the courtesy lamp relay driver connection at the BCM.

Here's the kicker, as initially suggested, I used the BROWN / white for the door trigger.  Looking at the schematics, the BROWN / white wire goes negative when the courtesy lamp relay in the BCM is activated.  So if the relay is never activated, no negative door trigger to set off your alarm.

You can create this condition by rolling the dimmer all the way down and enabling the reading-lamp-defeat switch in the headlamp assembly. With this switch enabled, the interior lights never activate when the doors are opened.  I verifyied this by rolling down the driver side window, and enabled the alarm. I switched on the defeat switch by rolling the dimmer all the way down, and then opened the door...no alarm!

I am hoping this is not true for the BROWN / lt green wire. My wife is tired of me disassembling the car, I'll have to wait until the weekend 1996 Caravan Domelight -- posted image. to find out, unless someone has already tested this condition with the BROWN / lt green wire.

thanks!

For anyone who's interested 1996 Caravan Domelight -- posted image. I finaly got everything hooked up and working properly.

as Jeff pointed out, Dome Supervision is the BROWN / white (-) wire.  The BROWN / lt green should be used for the negative door trigger.  To make sure auto-rearm works, you must diode isolate these wires.  The easiest place I found was at the dimmer switch on the BROWN / tl green wire.  The diode must be after the wire tap point and before the switch (anode toward the switch)

I appreciate everyones' input, this is a great forum! (wish I had this back in my highschool days in the '80s)

thanks!
