I am installing an Omega Research RS-7K into a '99 Dodge Ram and Im having trouble disarming the factory security.  I think it requires a negative pulse through a 1.5K resistor but I want to double check.  The rest of the system is in and it will start but shut down after a few seconds running.  I have a negative second ign output on the unit that stays on while the remote start is active.  Can I use this output or do I need to pulse the factory disarm?  If I do need to pulse it, does anyone have a diagram for the circuit I would need to construct?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I tried just grounding it with no change in result, I also tried pulsing straight ground to it with no change either.  I've read contradicting posts to the resistance value required.  Any further info would be great.

Thanks

Try a 430 ohm or a 660 ohm on through a relay , also it is a (-) trigger .

Is that to disarm?  If you know a way I wouldn't mind just disabling the factory security.

Thanks

OEM security of the Dodge truck is supposed to be a straight ground to the ORANGE / GREEN wire and if left on , this will permanently disable the OEM security system. If the OEM security doesn't go off after you remote start the truck, you have the correct wire. The problem is not the OEM security , it will probably be the SECOND IGNITION-----------BLACK/ orange. Did you power this connection up ? Use the second ignition wire on the system to engage a relay.

I caught a light GREEN/ orange in the drivers kick panel for the factory disarm and yes I powered up the 2nd ignition.  It only runs for a few seconds regardless of if I ground the factory alarm wire or pulse it.  Is there another location I should be trying to find it?

Thanks

If the OEM security does not go off when you remote start the truck, you have the correct wire. There is nothing else you have to do to this wire. If the truck starts and shuts off right away, then it will be  either tach related or Sentry key related. Where is your tach found & also, what color is the head of the key ?

* Power Train Control Module (PCM) Is Located On Passenger Rear Of Engine On Firewall. BLACK/ GRAY On 8.0L Engine Is 2 Cylinder Signal.(From Installer Tach Wire GRAY/BLACK) Diesel Glow Plug Wire Is ORANGE / BLACK At PCM. Can Also Be Found At 74 Pin Connector Behind Instrument Cluster.

I dont think there is a transponder in the key. My notes do not indicate one.

I got the tach wire OK and it has a standard all metal key with no transponder.  If I remote start the truck and turn the ignition on immediately after it starts it will stay running, otherwise it shuts off in about 5 seconds.  This is why I think its something to do with the factory security.  It hasn't blared the horn or flashed the lights or anyhting.
