Keyless entry problems

Ok, I'm trying to put keyless entry in my 97 Intrepid. I think I have everything hooked up right but it will not work. Read the crappy manual that came with it. I followed the wire color chart, and read up a little on it with this web site. Now to make this story short, I know the module has a good ground and the power sources are definitely correct. If I connect my tester to the leads that are supposed to lock or unlock my doors there should be a reading on the screen? I am not stupid, I understand most of this but there are a few things I am unsure of. I have the unlock and lock wires hooked up to the wires that give a reading when I hit my unlock/lock button. Shouldn't the module kick out the 12v when I press the remote button? Thank you for any help anyone can provide.

what wires did u tap??? and are you using relays???

I tapped the wire that gave voltage when I locked the doors and tapped the wire that gave voltage when I unlock the doors. My instructions say a relay is not necessary. I've read a few posts and I'm starting to think thats BS.

What are the colors, and how thick are they? The information I have lists ORANGE / white and pink/purple, both positive trigger. The car has factory relays in it, someplace. The ORANGE / white and pink/purple come off the switch in the door, go to the relays, and trigger them. What I'm getting at is, you could also have found the wires that come AFTER the relay...they'd still test as positive when you operate the locks, but they are not the correct wires to use. Get yourself a piece of scrap wire, but put a small fuse inline on it... 5 amps or less. Tie one end of the jumper wire to constant positive power. Touch the other end to the wire in the car that you think is the right one. If the fuse blows, you most likely have the wrong wire. If the locks operate normally, you have the correct wire. Also, what brand and model keyless entry do you have? Quality units will include lock outputs that can make positive or negative outputs---crappier ones put out negative pulses only. If yours is negative only, you'll need to use a pair of relays to invert them to positive, before attaching them to the car.

I could not find those colors, I used the wires that come right out of the back of the fuse panel. I see your point and I kinda thought of that. It's a Harada HCS-069OEM, from the instructions it says it gives negative pulses and I could have swore thats what my car uses so relays wouldn't be necessary
