Need a circuit design to do the following
When the up shift button is pressed it firstly turns on the transmission relay (which tells the transmission to go into tiptronic mode) then secondly turns on the up shift relay to tell the transmission to do the up shift.
Alternatively when the down shift button is pressed it firstly turns on the transmission relay then secondly turns on the down shift relay to tell the transmission to do the down shift.
Once the transmission relay is triggered it will stay on for 30 seconds then switch off unless it is triggered again. If it is triggered during that 30 seconds it will stay on for another 30 seconds.
So the transmission relay will only go off if there has been no activity in the last 30 seconds.
Both the up shift relay and the down shift relay need to be pulsed.
And lastly that only one of the shifting relays can be
operating at any time.

Seems like you are asking for a lot from a 12volt forum!

What is this going in?  Are you trying to interface an OEM system or something custom?

Is it me but I've watched this post for a few days and either I still don't understand the question, or a don't understand what the poster is saying. If this is a factory Tiptronic, no way would I touch it.

Howie, I think what he has going on is the main relay times out after 30 seconds.  If it times out and he needs to shift it, it will shift but it is delayed a bit because it has to re-engage the main relay before it can energize the upshift or downshift relay.  If the main relay is still engaged from a previous shift, it will upshift or downshift immediately.  I think he is trying to eliminate the delay.

I read it as he is trying to add tiptronic to a car that doesn't have it and he is missing the transmission controller.  Or, perhaps, his OEM controller died and he doesn't want to pay to replace it.

But, of course I'm still using my Magic 8 Ball since my crystal ball hasn't made it back from service (I have it factory calibrated every 3rd year).

I didn't want to try my guesswork routine 'cause from what I've heard, Kiwi Land is a strange mixture of SoCal (think Oz, Bondi Beach and Surfers) and the UK circa 1960, Morris Minors, Ford Anglias (Wiki that one) dial phones, betcha its a Honda Prelude 97 on.  I had to didn't I, now someone from the land of the sheepshaggers is going to tear a strip off of me.

Hi Guys,
I crashed a Ford Anglia 20 odd years ago. need a circuit for shifting -- posted image. Brakes failed going down a hill.
Anyway I've got a 2000 vw passat which has tiptronic. I've put shift paddles on my steering wheel and need them to connect to my transmission. Initially I wanted to just connect the paddle shift buttons to the up shift and down shift switches of the transmission control module but I would have to first put the transmission into tiptronic mode by pushing the gear lever over before using the shift paddles.
Now if I turned on the switch for tiptronic mode then I don't need to move the gear lever over and could shift up and down whether the gear lever was in tiptronic mode or not.

You could use a timming relay for 30 delay, like used for window roll up, but you might have to modify to reset timer on every shift.  Once the timming relay is engauged, wire to fire pulse to second relay.
