I want to use relays to raise and lower the electric bunk beds in my toyhauler. The beds are raised and lowered by a momentary, on-off-on switch now and I don't think there is any type of relay. The switch has three terminal on the back of it. The motor draws 12 amps to raise and lower. So the question is:

Would I use two relays and wire it like power windows.

If it has three wires, there have to be relays, find the motor wires and use a 529t as long as the current draw doesn't exceed 20amps.

I didn't think the last answer through. That switch probably has neg. as the centre tap. Check it out and if so you just need an neg aux output from an alarm etc. to control it. assuming the switch works without the ignition if not post your answe and I'll give you another trick.

At first I thought that it had to have relays. At the switch I read 12 volt to ground on the the center tap with the switch in the off position. So the switch is alway hot.

I looked around for relays, but could not find any.

How many connections are at the switch? How many wires are there going into the actual motor(s)?

Are you having trouble with the switch?

Mr. I, stop thinking about Ida (Good Luck) and read the person's first post again. 3 Terminals and fed 12 Volts. What this means is that if he or she wants to remote control the item all they have to do is provide a pos feed to either of the other terminals.
