I was looking over the basic diagrams under "Relays" in the left hand menu and ran into one that confused me. I showed the diagram to a couple people I know and they came up with the same result that I did:

Am I missing something here? Wouldn't the connection from the momentary switch to pole 87 bypass the need for the right relay?

That section of wire is there to create a latch so the coil of the relay will stay engaged after the momentary contact switch is opened after being closed once, without it as in the second diagram above, the coil of the relay will only stay engaged while the momentary contact switch is closed and will disengage after the switch is opened.

Ahh! I see it now. I spent a good deal of time trying to figure that one out. I guess I thought that the momentary switch would be held down the entire time the vehicle was starting. Makes sense now, thanks!
