I ran across something similar in an 01 Mustang. It was a friend's car and I had installed a security system with starter kill so there was still an anti-theft system afterwards. I permanently bypassed the system by pulling the pellet from the back of a key, removing the antenna ring from the column, and permanently mounting the pellet inside the ring under the dash out of the way.
Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.
