I have a Clarion DX425 in a 98 Toyota Corolla...its all setup right, with the exception of the Illumination Lead and the Amplifier turn on lead.  I cannot find where to plug these in.  The instructions say the Illuminatino should connect to the car power supply terminal for illumination, and the Amplifier turn on lead, to the remote turn-on lead of amplifier.  I cant find either of them.

Here is a diagram for your car up above. Sorry thought you had a 88 yes I believe you have a factory amp. And yes you have an illumination connection it should be the green wire in your factory radio harness. As far as hooking up the factory amp I am not sure what color wire you need to splice into. You will need a voltage tester to figure out what wire is supplying the switched 12 volt to your amp. You might want to make a post in the vehicle info forum on the 12volt and ask what color the remote turn on from the factory amp is.

ok, i can do without the ilumination thing, but i need the amp to make the sound work...i think.  anyways, is there anyone that can help me find this thing?

I'm about 99.9% sure your vehicle does not have a factory amplifier.  Just out of curiosity, have you tried hooking up all the other connections for the head unit to see if it works yet?  The illumination and remote wires are not necessary for the unit to power up and function properly.  They are only used on certain vehicles, and I'm pretty sure your car is not one of them.
