C6 Corvette Fuel Door & Hatch Release Switch Diagram

This is a switch out of a C6 Corvette 2010-13 which release the fuel door and the trunk/hatch. I want to use this in another automotive application. I can't find an electrical diagram showing the function of each of the wire on the switch. Can someone tell what these functions are?jwebhale

We got this. Put the meter to the OHM, or Continuity selection. Touch and hold the leads of the meter together. Notice the reading on the screen or the audible tone. Remember the reading or the tone. Connect the Orange wire to one of the meter leads. Attach the other meter lead to one of the other wires. Press the button on the switch. Does it repeat the meter reading or the audible tone? If not, leave on the orange and try another wire. Do that till you duplicate the meter reading or get the tone. If that does not happen, move the lead from the orange wire to another wire, then repeat the above.

The orange and black have continuity. This is + & - of the 12volt battery. Correct? So, what are the other wire for? Thanks for help. jwebhale

Orange and black are connected when you press the button on the switch? Do not connect anything to a battery yet. If they are connected when you press the switch, definitely do not connect to a battery the way you are thinking.

Yes, the switch, when pressed,will open the circuit from Orange to black. I was wrong earlier.jwebhale

I find it highly unlikely that they are using a normally closed circuit to pop the hatch or fuel door. Did you check all the wires to see if you could find a set that closes when you press the button?

According to Directechs the hatch release is a negative pulse. There should be 2 wires on each of the switches that connect when you press the button. Do the above suggestion on both of the switches. What is the reading on the meter when you touch the leads together? There are light bulbs in the switches. A lamp will not read as a dead short, but it will be close.

Here's what I got. Green and Blue/White is connected with 17.1 on 200 scale all the time. This must be the light. ???. The orange & black has a connection only when the switch button is pushed. This must be the signal to the solenoid. ???. It's likely that I'll need to use a relay between the switch and the solenoid. ????.jwebhale
