Hi guys,
I installed a ungo remote starter/alarm in a 94 Lesabre. I do know the car is equipped with the "Passkey" system.
Everything works but I can only remote start the car with the key in the ignition.
I searched on here and found out I need to put a resistor on the passkey wire, I dont have a tester to test the wire.
Do any of you know what size of a resistor I will be needing to use?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

For this you will need a meter. Also it is a little more then just placing a resistor inline.

I promise to be good.

I've been sick lately, sorry I won't be on much.

So when I do get a meter and the correct resistor, what do I need to do to get everything working properly?

you should just get an immobiliser module, they can be bought at most install bays. also DJTRINI didn't mention that you will need another factory key to do this, there is a chip in the key that the ignition needs to sense to turn the ignition on. the DEI part number is 555U it is a simple three wire box that you hide in your dash. other than that it's pretty simple, it can be done without the module but it's a nightmare to get right, this box makes it idiot-proof.

Hope i helped,

oops actually it is not this system, its called a VATS system, sorry for the misleading.

you need to use a relay, here is the setup

pin 86 - ignition output from remote start, must be isolated with a diode

pin 30 -vats computer side of non-white wire inside orange sleeve in ignition

pin 87a - ignition side of non-white wire in orange sleeve in ignition

pin 85 - ground

pin 87 - to the white wire in the orange sleeve, but through a resistor

the resistor has to match the same inpedance value as the key, so use a multimeter to test the resistor in the key, one lead on each side, dont use your fingers to hold the leads.  the resistor has to be within 10 ohms of the key value.

hope i helped,

Attach the white wire to the other wire with the resistor between them.... idiot proof
