Hello everyone, I seem to have a situation...

I own a Tiburon which came with a pretty descent factory infinity stereo. It includes an amp which is used to power all speakers, including the subwoofer in the trunk. I decided that it would be nice to put in a larger sub instead and add an amp to supply it. Without any professional consultation, I figured I could just use the existing speaker outputs from the head unit for the existing sub and bypass the factory amp. Needless to say my Sunday afternoon project has left me in silence for a few days.

My questions are:

Does anyone have a wiring schematic for a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT infinity system w/ a sub?

Since Im sure most of you guys on here know more about this suff than I do.....Does my idea for rewiring make sense?

Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks alot

I suggest rewiring from scrath. OEM wiring for aftermarket audio is not a good idea. If your using the OEM HU & speaker's but just want to add an amp & sub to the system, you need to grab the speaker outputs of the front speaker's at thea amplifier and run them into your LOC or high level inputs of the amplifier. If you do not know the outputs of the amplifier, start with a DMM and start testing for power, IGN & whatnot of the amplifier. The remainder of the wires will be speaker leads and you can test these with the DMM or with a battery if yo do not have the proper equipment.

The sub channel in this setup is actually split off in the amplifier, and not at the HU. That means if you want to use the sub channel to an aftermarket you would need to get the adapter to take the output from the amp back down to line level.
