hi, the alpine navigation needs a remote eye if you are using to a monitor thats not alpine...however if you are using an alpine monitor or indash screen the WHITE/ with brown wire needs to be connected there should be one on both units if alpine.  This will allow an alpine indash remote eye to work with the nav without an external remote eye.  the alpine remote is not RF!   Hope this helps.

hey awesome inprodominic, thank you for that ,,,im not running a alpine screen ,the only device that is alpine is the dvd nav,,the rest is all pioneer carrozziera,,so maybe this is the problem i will have ,,,,is there any way to wire up a remote eye to the alpine unit?,,,the reason for mix n match parts is that here in new zealand all the units are taken out of jap cars brought into the country,,,and are only able to get what is available at the time ,,,i do have a pioneer carrozzeria dvd  nav unit ,the model being ,,,avic-d717,,, which i thought may of been easier to hook up to excisting pioneer gear,,,but no matter which wires were hooked up i couldnt get the unit to eject or play the dvd inside,,the only thing it did do was light the little light up on front of unit ,,,so hence i thought id try the alpine model ,,,lol  but as i can see  now  wow not as easy as it seemed ,,lol,,

one last question ,,does the alpine dvd nav player ,,play vcd's? or dvd movie format ?
