Interested, but having not yet bought one of these units, i have noticed people talking about a parking brake hookup. Is this required to make it function? I ask because it would be installed in a semi truck which obviously does not have the same configuration as a car. My question is what sensors must be connected, and what i'll need to bypass to make it work in an 18-wheeler? Or is it even possible? Thanks.

As much as I hate the idea of you driving that thing changing waypoints and what-not, I've seen drivers cruising down the road reading an atlas resting on the steeringwheel. If you were to get the N2, you could also get the voice control module and that would allow you to take full advantage of the GPS and keep your eyes on the road.Avic-N2 semi truck install? -- posted image.

We have many more distractions and dangers on the road than a mere touchscreen GPS system to worry about. 4-wheeled vehicles, for example. My question though was, can they be installed in something that does not have a parking brake?

Yes just ground the brake wire. This still will not allow you to change waypoints, or watch video, while the vehicle is in motion.
