Sorry about the weird formating.  I don't know what happened.

I have an Acic-N1 installed in my 98 ML 320 Mercedes Benz.  The other equipment I have with it is the Back up camera, remote, and tv tuner.

I upgraded my Avic-N1  2 days ago using burned disks fro the AVIC-N3.  The software and evertyhing was working great until today.  Today I went out to my car after it was sitting in the 90 degree heat, and the screen slid out with all of the buttons lighting up, however the screen did no have a picture, and none of the buttons seemed to work.  I used a pin and pressed the reset button, however nothing changed.  The soucre button will not change or even select any souce.  The buttons for the volume don't work, the buttons to change the angle of the screen don't work.  There is no sound coming out of the speakers, and no souce selected.  However 10 hrs previously the unit was working flawlessly, and I was watching the standly cup on it

Has anyone heard of this before?  would anone have any advice?  Thanks for any help that you guys can offer

Yeah that's what it was.

I sent my unit back to bestbuy, and they sent it back and got it fixed for me.  it blows, i think if i didn't have the warrantee it would have cost about $150-$200 (and it took 10 business days).  They said that it was a defect in the unit, and the ribbon was not made strong enough, however they replaced it with a new one, and this problem should not occur again.  Let's hope that they are right......

I sent mine AVIC-N1 (ribbon cable bad) to Master Electronics, 1414 East Washington Street, Greenville SC 29607, cost was $226 and this included them shipping it back too me. I had it back in a little over a week.
