getting into the business?

Long story short, I'm 26, and a very highly skilled person when it comes to technical/mechanical things. Ive spent most of my life wondering what to do with my life, and in dire need of a career, I have a family, so trying to go back to school has been hard as it would require quitting my job and leaving my family homeless for the most part..... not a good option. It wasn't until recently when my parents bought me a car that I discovered Mobile Dynamics, or rather, MECP in general. Audio has always played a big part in my life, and Ive always loved these tricked out cars. Seeing all this has made me realize that becoming an installer, is something I would really like to do with my life, but any work experience I do have has all been with construction type stuff, or cooking. I want to get into this line of work and leave my dead end job of making orthotics behind me. I need a career to provide for my family better, but i'm not sure how i would go about getting into this line of work. What could i do to my resume to be more appealing to a stereo shop or something? I dont really have anything related to car audio that i could put on it, and although i am highly skilled, and very intelligent, making someone see that is near impossible. So i ask the advice of everyone here, how can i get into this line of work? how can i fix up my resume to be more appealing to this line of work(resume has always been my biggest problem) how can i get my MECP without spending $12,000 to go to some school in toronto (I live in london, ontario) would someone be willing to give someone a chance who has no real work experience with this type of stuff? I need to do something with my life, and i really believe this is it.... I know cars

i just relaized that i didnt finish my last sentence in my first post lol.... Im working on some stuff in my car, and i have actual experience working with car stuff in general, just not specifically things like this. as for my car, good as it is, its still in my parents name, and im only slightly limited with what i can do to it without my dad getting all weird. He is currently lost as to why im spending so much time working on my own speaker boxes for a couple of 12's when he seen some kind of speaker box thing at pep boys for $50 that included (according to him and a very vague description) a couple of 8" subs, some mid range speakers, the box, and an amp. I laughed and tried to explain to him why that system would be total doodie...... for $50 you shouldnt be able to buy even a single component of that system if its any quality. Anyway, back on track, I'd like to get into this, but right now my car is basically stock.... I havent done anything to it, and it takes me a long time to get doodie done since my money is for my family, not my car.....i end up with very little for spending on my car. hell even my girlfriend is giving me doodie for spending so much time with the car(because keeping it clean isnt important....)

so what could i do with my resume to make it better for a potential employer in this line of work? Resumes have always been my biggest problem, and trying to make what i can do sound good. I just need to get someone to give me a chance, i guarantee if they do, they will find me to be an excellent employee.
