I think on those the ignition harness is right behind and to the left of the radio...Your ignition is on the dash and not the on steering wheel column right...?? Check the harness and make sure it is plugged in tight...!

Whats the security light doing during the no start...Have you tried the passlock reset...Leave key in ON position for 15 minutes or untill security light turns off...You did try to put radio back in ...right...? I know on the Grand Prix there is a relay/fuse box under hood w/ the ignition fuses in there...Let us know...

This was great...Perusing through some Monte forums...I found an answer...The donation box was actually over this answer...Stopping you from seeing answer unless you donate(or copy and paste).  Can only imagine how many $5.00 donations were made(am i in the wrong business...!) Well when i tried to put in in so you could see...But the post was too BIG...

sorry, chevy hater. not this time!

haha so this appears to be quite the hot topic.  the key just doesn't turn at all.  it gets power because when i put the key in the dome light goes on.   the wheel doesn't lock into place.

what appears to have happened is that the pins in my igntion are stuck, or something along the line....

i put the key in and twisted (even though it's not even moving into the on position) and tapped it IN with a screw driver while twisting.  it eventually SNAPPEd out of off and started right up without a problem (Without the radio in, imagine that!)  except that when i pulled it into the garage it did the same thing after i turned it off.  key wont budge and the wheels wont stay put.

(for conversations sake it has all the same symptoms with the radio plugged in.  nothing changes between having it in and not having it in)

time for a new ignition?

i am an idiot

Nobody is hating on your chevy, it is just that you gave very few details on your actual problem.  Such as, after I removed my radio, now I can not turn the key in the ignition.  You can remove the ignition switch and bring it to a reputable locksmith and have it repaired for about 80 dollars.  Call around and explain your problem, it is a common problem.  There will be a locksmith somewhere in your town that has done this repair.

now, what are the advantages of repairing an ignition for 80 bucks when a new one is only 110?
