Hi everyone,
I have a 1992 GMC pick-up (5.7 2wd). My initial problem was all of a sudden the battery light came on and the guage was staying near 11-12 volts. I figured with 177,000 miles and an original looking alternator, it probably was going bad. I bought a new alt and battery, same problem. just as a goof exchanged the alternator for another one cme problem. I hooked up a volt meter and tugged on the groud cable, ground strap, positive cables, etc. with no change. The meter stays around 11.6-12.0 volts, every now and again going up to 13.0-13.4 volts (that only lasts 15 seconds at best, then back into mid/upper 11's). Please help any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brian

on the back of the alternator where the wire harness is. unplug the harness and check to see if there are any damaged connectors in the plug.
