ok having a problem hopefully someone has more experience and can help me with.  Have this national grid fleet vehicle and I'm trying to keep use of the beacon light and the spot light on it.  They are currently ran to a "box" in the back which also has a breaker box and a mini fuse box and a grounding panel. Orange coming into there goes up into the engine bay to the GREEN/ pink wire on the abs control unit (which may possibly be bad, runs very loud and sounds like it's straining when the truck is running) so at the moment I have the fuse pulled on the abs unit.  So the power/ground from that back box runs up to the battery but also to a 100amp box. I do have pics of this all but do not have editing software to shrink it on the computer I'm using at the moment. So if I could send someone the pics and they might know what they are tapped into on the ABS unit  and what they would suggest... I'm pretty sure most of you will say remove all the crazy crap out of there and connect those two lights directly to the battery but want to double check on that.

Can you explain why the beacon light would be connected to the ABS module ? Sorry, but if you can describe this setup beter, we might be able to help you diagnose the problem.

I have no idea.  This was how the vehicle was purchased. Let me see if I can try and explain a little better

this is what i've traced.

power from battery--- 100 amp box----under the truck back to power the mini fuse box

ground from battery---- back to grounding strip next to the "box" in back

Orange wire from ABS unit which is connected to GREEN/ pink wire on the unit----- to the back into the relay (disconected in the above pics)

The beacon and the spot light are wired to this "box" . They each are the red wires coming in that picture going to seperate panels.  Theirs gounds goto the grounding strip which is not pictured. And the white wire goes to the switches in the front.

hopefully that makes a little more sense.  The main problem is why that orange wire from the back relay is going to that wire on the abs unit? Also is that could cause the abs unit to go bad.  I plan on disconnecting it all this morning but was waiting to see if there was any responses about this wire on the ABS unit and this 100 amp piece is mounted next to the battery.

I'm guessing that wire from the ABS is an ignition control feed, if so it's a lousy place to tap off. find an ignition source, either under hood fuse box or in car.

Sorry, you can NOT post a reply.
