home stereo reciever

The speaker choice sounds fine but frankly you won't hear the receiver in a room that size, go for something about 2x200watts+ RMS and 2 pair of those speakers. Why a dolby 2.1? You only need stereo. I'm running an old Yamaha in my lounge with 2 x 150w RMS through similar speakers and that room is 22 x 12, it's adsequate.

2.1 because I am limited on where I can order from.  I am wanting  a stereo reciever but have to order from a vendor and can't find one.

What do you mean by "order from a vendor"?  Who can you order from?  There are not that many pure stereo receivers available these days, and those that are any good are generally not available from places like Sears.Support the12volt.com

exactly my problem.  A vendor is someone that is registered with the district that I work for.  We have to have a contract with them.  The next time a company can become a vendor is in May.  So where do I look at for quality stereo recievers.  I really don't wanna hook up an entire PA, though at this point it seems as though that would be easier.

Ah, I missed that this was for a school weight room where competing with the sounds of weights or weight machines, sound quality is not your primary concern.  In that case, save a couple bucks and order this one, it will likely get plenty loud with those CV speakers.  And tell those young athletes to kick butt and stay in school!Support the12volt.com

thanks for the feedback.  I am going to order this and hopfully in a month or so when I get it, it will sound ok and be really loud!!
