I've just finished installing button start in my car - 1 toggle switch turns the accessories on and 1 momentary, 2 prong switch handles the ignition. I recently bought another momentary switch off ebay - when it arrived i realised it had 8 prongs and didnt include any sort of wiring information. How would i go about wiring this? It has an led so i guess 2 prongs are used for powering that?

Also i've installed an LED toggle switch which controls my brake lights. When its on (99.9% of the time) the led on the switch is also on. The switch itself is a simple 3 prong - power, acc, ground. Is there any way (using a relay etc)i could make it so that the LED on the switch only comes on when the swtich is off? Heres the switch

Your switch, according to the Ebay ad (Ebay links are prohibited on this site) states that it is a DPDT switch with illumination - thus 8 wires.

Two are for the illumination and three are for each set of contacts.

You should be able to use an ohm meter and find two sets of pins that read 0 ohms, then flip the switch and find two more sets that read 0ohm. The "common" pin on either side is your common input to your switch and the other two pins associated with the common pin are your NO and NC pins.

thanks kevin, got the momentary switch working. Any ideas how i could do the LED thing?

Take the output of the switch and run it to a relay. Connect the NC contacts of the relay to your brake lights.

This way, if the switch is off the light will be off and your brake lights will work.

If the switch is on the light will be on and your brake lights won't work.
