Hi there.. I just got my Compu STAR remote starter, alarm and pager combo installed.

Everything works great, except for the fact that when the remote starter starts the engine the A/C / Heater fan do not start up.   Those will only start when the key is turned.

Is this a limitation of the 1997 GMC Jimmy or did they forget to attach the green wire?

Sounds to me like there's more than one Ignition wire in the column. That's becoming more common these days. If it does, it needs to be properly isolated from the other Ignition and/or Accessory wires, either via a seperate proper (+) output from the start module, or via a relay. Most newer remote starters have outputs for two or even three extra Ignition and/or Accessory circuits. In other words, if the remote start module only has one output for Ignition, don't just piggyback it to the other Ignition wire in the column.

The wiring diagram that I have tells me that the Heater/AC wire is the ORANGE in the ignition harness not GREEN. Test the ORANGE wire for heater /ac controls by giving this wire 12 volts and have the heater /ac on while doing this and the key off.

Test this wire first for circuit verification and that it outputs 12 volts and then do the test outlined above.
